Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

I am asking the English Wikipedian administrators to protect the article as it is vulnerable to attack by anonymous ip's who do not like the decision of the Football Association of Indonesia to dismiss Shin Tae-yong. Badak Jawa (talk) 04:49, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcementWP:A/I/PIA. The page is within scope of the restrictions. Per the ArbCom remedies, only extended-confirmed editors should be able to edit the article. Sean.hoyland (talk) 05:08, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Given this page attracts perennial non-constructive editing, often in a transphobic way, I recommend indefinite grey lock. ~Gwennie🐈💬 📋05:10, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – High volume of disruptions for a new release. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 06:31, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: There has been a variety of statements/edits made on this article that are both unsourced and/or WP:OR. A protection would benefit the page, as it would help ensure that only sourced material is added. DisneyMetalhead (talk) 06:41, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Recent non-constructive edits by auto-confirmed editors. ManaliJain (talk) 06:47, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Recurring sockpuppetry (for the second time) by WP:YAYSMAY15. See also Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/Yaysmay15. Borgenland (talk) 06:58, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Long and persistent attack by sockpuppets and anonymous IP editors. This page was protected against dynamic IP edit warring for a week in December 2024, but the attack has been going on since April 2023. Requesting protection for a longer period - about six months. Chaipau (talk) 07:05, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism by caste fanatics, who change the facts regularly. Minakshi Pillai (talk) 07:15, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent disruptive editing made by several IPs who make changes to the articles such as replacing the word "burusera" with "child porno" which is considered as disruptive to editors who have to revert these changes. Galaxybeing (talk) 09:48, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP Vandalism, particularly targetting a certain paragraph written under the India subsection. Over Months various different IPs and Accounts evidently have been trying to bury it desperately. I have counted 5 attempts since June 2024 over the span of half a year. Evidently will never stop so it needs a long term block. ContributedEditor (talk) 09:50, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Has passed away and is likely to have a lot of edits. A very controversial figure and could invite vandalism. Has seen some non-neutral edits already. Telfordbuck (talk) 12:10, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Increase of IP removal of sourced information MysticCipher87(alt-account) (talk) 12:42, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Continous vandalism by IP addresses. Taabii (talk) 13:22, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – There is a serious amount of disruptive editing ongoing from IPs and new IPs keep popping up after getting blocked. CNC (talk) 13:31, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 hours, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Favonian (talk) 13:33, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – not-very-sigma vandals moved this to Ohio 'n' back, which Diddied the page protection and the skibidi vandalism can now resume. Also perhaps move-protect to prevent people who collect substantial fanum tax. JayCubby 13:39, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Edit war has kicked up on 7 January - repeated disruptive edits by IP editors repeatedly being reverted as disruptive. Geoff | Who, me? 13:47, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked: 2a0d:6fc0:b5a:fe00::/64 (talk · contribs) blocked by C.Fred.
Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Favonian (talk) 14:11, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – High profile article targeted by several single-purpose editors (WP:COI), without consensus and unsigned. R3ap3R (talk) 14:49, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: The protection is no longer necessary because their popularity alright died down and the article was indefinitely protected since 2012. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 13:49, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
